Eleanor C. Goeckner, 83, of rural Effingham (Bishop area) died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at her home in rural Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the church with a combined Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters of America rosary and a parish wake service. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Goeckner was born July 2, 1927, in Lillyville, the daughter of Martin and Frances (Hoene) Will. She married Norbert A. Goeckner Sept. 11, 1948.
Eleanor was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish and St. Aloysius Church, Bishop Creek, St. Aloysius Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughters of America Council 1711, Bishop ladies card group and member and past officer of Teutopolis Home Extension.
She is survived by her husband Norbert; five sons, Kenneth (Betty), Edward (Jane) and William (Sherry), all of Effingham, Roger (Wendy) of Bourbonnais and Charles (Rose) of Teutopolis; three daughters, Linda Verdeyen of Effingham, Karen (Mark) Pruemer of Teutopolis and Betty (Tim) Wente of Lillyville; daughter-in-law, Sandy Goeckner; two brothers, Bernard (Dolores) Will of Heartville and Lawrence Will of Lillyville; four sisters-in-law, Sister Jerome, Sister Adella, Sister Laura and Sister Emma, all of Ruma; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale; three brothers, Virgil (Elvira), Ray and Joe; one sister, Hilda Siemer; and two sisters-in-law, Sister Mary William Goeckner and Sister Martha Goeckner.
