Edward J. "Ed" Kosek, 86, passed away at 11:21 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home near Lake Sara.
A memorial prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway with visitation being held from 12:00 p.m. to time of service, Thursday afternoon at the church. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Ed was born August 4, 1929 in Chicago, the son of George and Victoria (Papierz) Kosek. He married Marion D. Jarka on July 1, 1950 and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2013. Ed served with the United States Army during WWII and was a superintendent with Crane Construction for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway and was an avid golfer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ed is survived by his nine sons, Randy (Jean) of Yorkville, Blaine (Chris) of Chicago Ridge, Carey (Debbie) of Boulder, CO, Ed Jr. (Vicki) of Hickory Hills, Guy (Lisa) of Oak Lawn, Bruce (Denise) of Madison, IN, Glenn (Martha) of Westmont, Scott of Greenup and Greg (Michelle) of Frankfort; five daughters, Connie Ott of Worth, Jodi (Alan) Pastre of Corvalis, OR, Rene (David) Conrad of Burbank, Terri (Rich) Mora of Oak Lawn and Dawn (James) Conrad of Oak Lawn; fifty three grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marion and his siblings, Ann, Tony, Frank, Walter and John.
