Edward J. Eckert, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his home in Effingham.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.

Ed was born July 30, 1942 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of George and Anna (Sprigler) Eckert. He married Katie N Schwartz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana, and would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on February 23rd. For 25 years, Ed worked at World Color Press in Salem. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kate of Effingham; sons, Joe (Leslie) of Effingham, Paul of Herrin, Mike of Van Buren, AR, Tony (Beth) of Golconda, and Mark of Carbondale; siblings, Judy (Donald) Fuesting of Laurel Hill, FL, Frank (Lethia) Eckert of Sellersburg, IN, Jane (Arvil) Barnes of Niceville, FL, Cindy (Donnie) Kleehamer of Sellersburg, IN, and Mary Lou (Denny) Rager of Sellersburg, IN; ten grandchildren, Brock Eckert, Levi Eckert, Seth Kline, Chelsea Kline, Vincent Eckert, Katie Eckert, Menno Eckert, Edrick Eckert, Jakob Eckert, and Jorjanna Eckert; and four great-grandchildren, Holden Kline, Hadleigh Kline, John Eckert, and Sarah Eckert.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Anne.
