Earl H. Pals, 79, passed away at 2:40 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home in Teutopolis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the church with a 5:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or to the donor's choice.
Earl was born June 23, 1932 in Teutopolis, the son of Sylvester and Emma (Kabbes) Pals. He married Rita M. Niebrugge on July 27, 1957 and she survives. Earl was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874 and Teutopolis American Legion Post #924. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. There was never a stranger in our dad's world.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Teutopolis; four sons, Tony (Michelle), Pat (Peg), John (Kathy) and Earl, all of Teutopolis; four daughters, Mary (Todd) Althoff of Effingham, Maureen (Chuck) Willenborg of Teutopolis, Katie (Fiance, Scott) Pals and Amy (special friend, Joe) of Teutopolis; three sisters, Dolores (Norman) Hensley of Decatur, Marilyn Lueken of Marshall and Carol (Jim) Bloemer of Effingham; two sisters-in-law, Alene Gutman of Springfield and Billie Pals of Teutopolis; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Lynn; two brothers, Jim and Bill.
