Obituary

Dorothy Faye Davis, 91 of Watson, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service, Saturday morning at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Unit at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Dorothy was born December 9, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Martin L. and Bessie Rosetta (Flowers) Geer. She married George J. Davis on March 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1984. Dorothy worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant at Effingham Rehabilitation, as well as Lakeland Nursing Home in Effingham. She enjoyed spending time doing yard work and tending to her flowers, but most of all, she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Many referred to her as "Mom" or "Grandma" since she had such a caring heart; always wanting to take care of others.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Danny Lee (LynnAnn) Davis of Watson, Tom (Debbie) Davis of Watson and Ross (Rita) Davis of St. Elmo; daughters, Rosetta McCoy of Watson, Sarah (Frank) Webster of Mason and Rebecca (Derrick) Black of Villa Grove; brother, Norman Geer of Portland, OR; sisters, Joann Martin and Lillie Mae Simpson, both of Adrian, OR; sisters-in-law, Alice Geer of Paradise, CA and Erica Davis of Green Valley, MO; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and family who will dearly miss her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. (Bonita) Davis; brother, Gene Geer; daughter, Georgia Lynn Davis; son-in-law, Thomas McCoy; sister-in-law, Dorothy Geer; two grandsons, Thomas J. Davis and Jesse McCoy.
