Doris Anne Eden, 78 of Effingham, formerly of Robinson, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
****DUE TO THE WEATHER, SERVICES WILL NOW BE HELD AT NOON ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson with burial in Robinson Township Cemetery. Visitation will NOW BE HELD FROM 4:00 P.M. TO 7:00 P.M. MONDAY EVENING Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and for one hour prior to the funeral mass, TUESDAY morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Doris Anne was born September 11, 1935 in Robinson, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Stewart) Woodard. She married Tom Eden on October 16, 1955 and he survives. Doris Anne was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Robinson, had previously been a receptionist for Marathon Oil in Robinson and worked in the bookkeeping department at First National Bank of Robinson for 12 years. Doris Anne was the first Palestine Labor Day Queen in Sept. 1955. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, tennis and shopping. Doris Anne spent many hours watching her kid's sporting events. She loved spending time with her family, grandkids and friends.
Doris Anne is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Richard (Vallie) of Springfield; three daughters, Kathryn (John) Sheary of Forsyth. Brenda of Springfield and Julie (Dan) Wortman of Effingham; sister, Norma Mae Wiseman of Ashburn, VA; nine grandchildren, Leslie Sheary, Jacob Sheary, Kiersten Sheary, Amber Eden, Ava Eden, Elizabeth Wortman, Sarah Wortman, Rachel Wortman and Zachary Wortman; one great-granddaughter, Laela Sheary.
Doris Anne was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Mary; three brothers, Loren, Jack and Frank.
