Doris J. Dasenbrock, 95 of Effingham, passed away Thursday morning, July 25, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to St. Anthony School Scholarship Fund or Catholic Charities.
Doris was born December 4, 1923 in Hyde County, South Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Francis (Stranskey) Knapton. On August 26, 1949, she married Eugene F. Dasenbrock in Wilaux, Montana. Doris was employed with the FAA as a flight service specialist for 34 years. After moving back to Effingham, Doris spent 20 years cooking for the priests of St. Anthony. Doris also belonged to the Council of Catholic Women and worked with St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Doris' family was important to her, and she enjoyed the time they were able to share together. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and camping.
Doris is survived by her loving step-daughter, Phyllis Jean (Ross) Dufrene of California; sisters, Beverly Peterson of Minnesota, Melva (Marvin) Courrior of Minnesota; brother, Robert (Ranae) Knapton of Iowa; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Marvin; three step-daughters, Ruth, Mary Ann, Sally and brother-in-law, Chester Peterson.
