Donald "Donnie" Goeckner, 73 of Bishop Creek, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 12, 2024 , at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bishop Creek. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Parish Center. No graveside service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Community Support Systems. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Donnie was born in Effingham on May 11, 1951, the son of Robert and Mary (Will) Goeckner. He has resided at the Community Support Systems Group Home since 1997 and is well-known throughout the community. Donnie always had a smile on his face and loved getting presents, especially baseball caps. Donnie was loved by many people throughout his life.

He is survived by his brothers Peter (Carla) Goeckner, Richard Goeckner, and Ronnie Goeckner, and his sister Alice Goeckner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Goeckner.
