David G. Harper, 66 of Effingham, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 13, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.

David was born July 15, 1956 in Mattoon, the son of Don E. and Alice Brenda (Pierce) Harper. He married Deborah Sue "Debbie" Meyer on December 6, 1975. David was the grounds superintendent at the Effingham County Club, was a salesman for ERB Equipment, and later worked at Effingham Equity. David loved to fish, work in his garden and do landscaping. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Debbie of Effingham; sons, Jeremy of Ft. Meyers, FL, David Wayne of Effingham, and Robert (Lisa) of Watson; daughter, Jessica (Aaron) Mansfield of Lexington, KY; mother, Brenda Harper Zerrusen of Effingham; brother, Ed (Jan) of Mahomet; sister, Diane (Kevin) Lane of Kinmundy; grandchildren, John, Joe, Nadia, Lucas, Cecelia, Melanie, and Maci.

David was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Ralph Zerrusen.
