Daniel W. "Dan" Helmbacher, 55 of Effingham, passed away at 6:54 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Dan was born August 10, 1958 in Effingham, the son of Roland and Virginia (Shade) Helmbacher. He served with the United States Army from 1976 to 1978. Dan was honored as "Veteran of the Month" for his contributions to the V.A. Black Hills Health Care System in South Dakota in July of 2009. He was employed at Fedders in Effingham for over 15 years.
Dan is survived by his son, David of Neoga and daughter, Dana of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Roland "Butch" of Wheeler and three sisters, Kathleen (Steve) Jamison of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Carol (Jim) Davis of Ashley and Frances Buenker of Effingham; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Vadrick Donsbach and Aaron Helmbacher.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Alan Buenker.
