Clara Brummer, 83, formerly of Mountain Grove, MO, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away December 13, 2016.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Church - Island Grove with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service, Friday morning at the St. Joseph Parish Hall.

She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and resided at the Arbors of Ravenwood in Springfield, Missouri for the past 6 years.

Clara was born February 15, 1933, in Lillyville, IL to Edward and Emma (Vahling) Zumbahlen. After graduating high school, Clara took a job with the FBI in Washington D.C. as a fingerprint clerk, where she had the pleasure to meeting J. Edgar Hoover. Shortly after returning home, she married Sylvester Brummer on October 24, 1953. They were married 53 years before his passing in 2007.

Clara loved music, whether it be listening to Patsy Cline or playing the piano or her accordion. She also enjoyed gardening and baking. She made great pies, from "Scratch." She will be missed by all who knew her.

Clara is survived by her five children, Glenn of Belleville, IL, Tom (Laurie) of Shreveport, LA, Jerry (Dena) of Marshfield, MO, Pam (Dave) Gehrig of Missoula, MT and Greg (Sara) of Shawnee, KS; ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; six sisters, Rosemary Bergbower, Newton, IL, Marian Weishaar, Teutopolis, IL, Estella (Richard) Deters, Boulder, CO, Marie Dust, Effingham, IL, Christine (Don) Litzelman, Ste. Marie, IL, Irene Correll, Newton, IL, and one brother, Elmer (Elaine) Zumbahlen, Wheeler, IL.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester, and her parents, brothers Art, Vince, Clete, Sylvester and Lenny, daughter-in-law, Shelley (Welch) Brummer, her great grandchild, Lillian Marie Dial and brothers-in-laws, Rapheal Bergbower, Vincent Weishaar, and Nicholas Dust.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors of Ravenwood and Intrepid Hospice of Springfield, MO for their loving devotion to mom. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of choice.
