Carol J. Brant, 78, passed away Monday morning, June 3, 2019 at her home in Effingham.

A parish prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with visitation being held from 3:30 p.m. to time of service.  A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to the donor's choice.

Carol was born May 26, 1941 in Effingham, the daughter of Andrew and Genevieve (Miller) Hartke. She married Jerry Brant and he preceded her in death in 2004. Carol had most recently worked at K-Mart in Effingham until its closing. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden and putting together puzzles. Carol was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She is survived by her son, Tom Board of Effingham; daughter, Tina (Cecil) Ochs of Olney; step-children, Anne Marie Kerr, John Brant and Scott Brant; sisters, Nancy Spelbring and Marilyn J. Hartke, both of Dieterich; brother, Ron (Mary Lynn) Hartke of Teutopolis; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Sue Ann Willenborg, John Hartke and Judy Reeder; niece, Brenda Reiss.
