Carl A. Niemerg, 72 of Effingham, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Per Carl's wishes, his body was donation for scientific study at the SIU School of Medicine in Carbondale. No public services will be held at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Carl was born January 5, 1953 in Effingham, the son of Albert and Marie (Tays) Niemerg.

He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Ryan) Pownall of Russiaville, Indiana and Kelly (Ryan) Weingardt of Missoula, MT; sons, Kevin (Dorrina) of Avon, Indiana and Joel of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren; Noah (Emma), Christian, Anna, and Ashlyn Pownall, Zach Niemerg, Avery and Olivia Weingardt; siblings, Nancy (Dan) Deters of Sigel, Joan (Tom) Buzzard, Janice Niemerg and Gary Niemerg, all of Effingham.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Budde.
