Bruce Lee McQuillen, 74 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Bruce was born August 4, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lee and Angie (Hamilton) McQuillen. He served as a corpsman in the United States Navy. Bruce received his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Truman State and was a teacher for many years. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, gardener, and Hawkeye sports fan. Bruce was also a musician in several local bands.

He is survived by his daughter, Deirdre McQuillen of Springfield; son, Nathan (Dana) McQuillen of Effingham; brother, Brad (Cheryl) of Shawnee Mission, KS; sister, Beth McQuillen of Iowa City, IA; three nieces and three nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.
