Bonita L. "Bonnie" Thomas, 85 of Effingham, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial donations may be given to the Effingham County Special Olympics.

Bonnie was born September 1, 1937 in Funkhouser, the daughter of George and Amy (Niccum) Ashley. She married Ronald D. Thomas on July 23, 1963 and he preceded her in death in 2009.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Robert (Jeana) Thomas of Melbourne, Australia; daughter, Theresa (Brad) LeDuc of Elgin, SC; nine grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Duane and Harold; brother, Edward Ashley; sisters, Betty Jamison, Maisie Shelton, Margie Jamison, and Juanita Keller.
