Beverly R. Cole, 72, of Effingham died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Effingham, with burial in Dieterich Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Beverly was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Effingham, the daughter of James and Jennie (Elliott) McMahon. She married George T. "Tom" Cole on Sept. 14, 1958.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Beverly worked as a legal secretary for several years at Taylor & Taylor Law Offices, Effingham, before moving to Bloomington and starting her career with Verizon Communications, where she worked in the legal engineering department until retiring on Nov. 21, 2003.

After retiring, she had looked so forward to moving into her new home in Effingham. Bev kept very busy with her Stanley home products and income tax business as well. She was a woman of many talents; there wasn't anything she couldn't do.

Bev was a kind, generous and loving mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time, she loved playing Bingo, sneaking off to the gambling boat and enjoying a good cup of coffee. Another one of Bev's great joys was her white Cadillac. She and her Caddy traveled many miles.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Tina) Cole of Montrose; daughter, Michelle (Rick) Kinkelaar of Shumway; one brother, Dennis (Janet) McMahon; nine grandchildren, Mika Fore (Jeff Judy), Mike Cole Jr. (Crystal) Cole, Cotty (Tomoko) Cole, Misty (Josh) Cole, Justin (Megan) Cole, Brandon and TJ Cole, and Ty and Shea Kinkelaar; and eight great-grandchildren, Brittany and Shawn Fore, Tyler Koonce and Audra, Brice, Clare, Austin and Jaden Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; two brothers, Larry and Darrell; and sister-in-law, Mert McMahon.
