Betty E. Melluzzo, 72 of Effingham, passed away at 3:29 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Cumberland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenup.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to time of service, Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at www.bauerfh.com.

Betty was born February 12, 1943 in Effingham, the daughter of Stanford and Fyrne (Nelson) Reed. She attended Montrose Grade School and Dietrich High School. Betty graduated from Mattoon School of Practical Nursing in 1962. Her nursing career included working at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital and many area nursing homes, as well as working as a nurse in Arizona and Texas.

Betty is survived by her son, Greg (Donna) of Greenup; two brothers, Robert (Jean) Reed of Decatur and Larry (Karen) Reed of Effingham; sister, Peggy (Ralph) Schwengel of Warrensburg; aunt, Evelyn Hartke of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Dustin Melluzzo and April Melluzzo; two step-grandchildren, Derrick (Lisa) Harris and Melissa (John) Drum; three great-step-grandchildren, Logan, Ava and Payton; six nieces, three nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews, several great-great-nieces and nephews; many cousins also survive.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, niece, great-niece and great-nephew.
