Bertha Marie Will, 84, of rural Effingham passed away surrounded by her family at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:00 p.m. parish rosary. Bertha was born August 24, 1928 in Green Creek, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Schumacher) Schabbing. She married LeRoy J. Will on August 16, 1952 in Green Creek. Bertha was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and the Effingham Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 720.
Bertha was a homemaker and was a school cook for the Teutopolis school district, retiring after 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and dancing with her husband.
Bertha is survived by her devoted husband, LeRoy and her four children, Donna (Dick) Rhodes of Effingham, Carol Beccue of Fairfield, Mike (Cheryl) of Sigel and Mark (Andrea) of Effingham. They have seven grandchildren, Travis and Cortney Rhodes, Kristina (Sean) Vaughn, Dylan, Bryce and Ryan (Keisha) Beccue and Connor Will; three great grandchildren, Klaira and Jake Vaughn and Carter Beccue; sister-in-law Lucy Probst of Wheeler.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Ungrund.
