Bernard G. "Bud" Hoene, 61, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at his home in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church, with a 6:00 p.m. Elks rites service and a 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Bud was born April 14, 1954 in Mattoon, the son of Clarence G. and Frances (Fuesting) Hoene. He married Karen A. Hartke on July 27, 1974 and she survives. Bud was a farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, as well as the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665 and the Effingham Elks Lodge #1016.

Bud is survived by his wife, Karen of Effingham; son, Brett (special friend, Melissa) of Altamont; daughter, Lena (Schuyler) Manson of Brunswick, MO; mother, Frances Hoene of Sigel; brothers, William "Bill" (Marlene) and Tim, both of Sigel; sisters, Jean "Sis" (Kevin) Harder of Effingham, Julie (Rob) Alba of Terrell, NC and Kathleen (Brian) Meyer of Sigel; five grandchildren also survive.
