Bernard S. Bloemer, 71, formerly of Effingham Illinois, passed away May 10, 2021 at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to the Ronald McDonald House in his honor. Cards may be left at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Bernard was born June 26,1949 in Effingham, the son of Bernard W. and Marie(Adermann) Bloemer. He served in the United States Navy on USS Newsport News from 1967-1971. Bernard was awarded the National Defense Medal. He worked as a welder and until his retirement was the owner of Adermann's Welding and Machine Shop. Bernard enjoyed golfing, playing guitar and singing in local bands. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his daughter, Hollie Bloemer of Cypress, Texas; son, Bernard "Barney '' Bloemer of Mattoon and step-daughter from a previous marriage, Julie Tarrant of Effingham.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents.
