Barbara J. "Barbie" Sechrest, 68 of Effingham, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. A reception will immediately follow until 3:00 p.m. at the Effingham Event Center, formerly the Effingham Knights of Columbus Hall.

Barb was born March 8, 1954, in St. Joseph, Michigan, the daughter of Walter Sr. and Teresa (Carrier) Urch. She married Jesse R. Sechrest on December 10, 1977.

Barb is survived by her husband, Jesse of Effingham; daughter, Autumn (Gabriel) Cavazos of Coppell, TX; two grandsons, Lucas and Jacob Cavazos; sisters, Christine (Ed) Hicks of Coloma, MI, and Joyce Blake of Holland, MI; brothers, Water Urch, Jr. of Watervliet, MI and Mark (Karen) Urch of Bullhead City, AZ.
