Audry V. Gress, 92 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Due to the new guidelines set by the CDC, the memorial mass for Audry is now limited to his immediate family ONLY.

In lieu of the visitation, his family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sacred Heart School or to the American Diabetes Association.

Audry was born August 24, 1927 in Calhoun County, Illinois, the son of Arthur Roman and Mary Helen (McGuire) Gress. He married Ora Johnson on November 24, 1948 in Hardin, Illinois. Audry served with the United States Marines from 1945 to 1946. For many years, Audry worked in the insurance industry and retired in the mid-1990's. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and was a lifetime member of the Effingham Knights of Columbus #665.

Audry is survived by his wife, Ora of Effingham; children, Michael (Nancy) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Timothy (Vicky) of Mansfield, Lisa Alwerdt (Steve Moore), Mary (Dave) Walters and Vicki Gress all of Effingham; sister, Eleanor Robeen of Hardin; ten grandchildren, Bridget, Hillary, Patrick, Caitlin, Lauren, Collin, Daniel, Britney, Aaron and Jenny; and nine great-grandchildren.

Audry was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Patrick "Pat" Gress and brother, "Bud" Gress.
