Audrey L. Walk, 94 of Sigel, passed away Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 2:45 p.m., followed by visitation until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 6:00 p.m. parish prayer service. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to St. Michael School or the Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary in Neoga. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bauerfh.com .
Audrey was born February 4, 1925 in Effingham, the daughter of Aloysius and Johanna (Renschen) Wendt. She married Robert G. Walk, Sr. on October 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1986. Audrey was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Sigel, St. Michael Council of Catholic Women, and a former member and officer of the Sigel Legion Auxiliary.
Audrey is survived by seven sons, Jerry (Charlene) of Sigel, Bob (Sharon) of Sigel, Richard (Marilyn) of Teutopolis, Mark "Pete" of Dieterich, Alan (Ellen) of Altamont, Phil (Lori) of Neoga and James (Kelli) of Jefferson Hills, PA; daughters, Linda (Fred) Cooper of Henderson, KY, Cheryl (Gene) Sligar of Watson, Jeanne (Wayne) Stearns of Jacksonville, Julie (Jim) Roepke of Effingham, Janet (Todd) Pruemer of Golconda and Angie (Phil) Probst of Wheeler; brother, Al (Mildred) Wendt of Effingham; sisters, Connie Wendt of Effingham and Verena Allen of Effingham; forty eight grandchildren, seventy eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Bernice Walk; granddaughter, Kayley Pruemer; great-grandson, Levi Jansen; brothers, Bernie, Virgil and John Wendt; sister, Mary Swingler.
