Arthur Charles Thies, 81, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home in Teutopolis.

Art was born July 4, 1933 in Saint Marie, the son of Louis J. and Charlene (Keller) Thies. He married Virginia Thoele on October 27, 1956 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and she preceded him in death in 1997. Art served in the United States Navy. He was a Union Electrician for the IBEW Local 146. Art was a member of the Teutopolis American Legion and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis.

Art is survived by his children, Debra (Ray) Vogel, Jean Burner, Laura (Achilles) Koukas, Peg (Dan) Schumacher and Gregg (Ellen) Thies; grandchildren, Daniel Vogel, David Vogel, Brett (Laura) Burner, Michael Schumacher, Megan Schumacher, Marc Schumacher, Dalton Thies, Morgan Thies and Alexander Koukas; siblings, Sr. Pat Thies, Ted (Evelyn) Thies, Louis (Anna Marie) Thies, Gloria (Clem) Uptmor, Mary Jane (Jerry) Schultz, Marlene (Kevin) Koehl and David (Sharon) Thies.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Virginia.
