Anna C. Barlage, 83, passed away at 12:20 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincolnland or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Anna was born December 3, 1929 in Green Creek, the daughter of William and Anna (Nuxoll) Niebrugge. She married James W. "Bill" Barlage on December 31, 1952 and he survives. Anna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and the Effingham Women's Bowling Association. She had previously worked for the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store and later for the Sears Catalog Store; she also worked at Silver Dollar Lanes and as an operator for the old phone company in Effingham.
Anna is survived by her husband, Bill of Effingham; two sons, Dennis and Duane, both of Effingham; daughter, Denise (Gordon) McClure of Newton; sister, Celeste Williams of Paragould, AR; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leo, Otto, Martin, Leonard and Ralph; three sisters, Sophie Dust, Clara Miller and Helen Schwerman.
