Alice "Brenda" Zerrusen, 90 of Teutopolis, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, July 7, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the activity fund at Lutheran Care Center.

Brenda was born January 14, 1933 in Glen Dean, Kentucky, the daughter of Louis A. and Lucretia Ann (Moxley) Pierce. She married Don E. Harper and he preceded her in death in 1978. Brenda then married Ralph L. Zerrusen and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Brenda loved her family and friends and was always happy to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed all of the beautiful things in life such as flowers, bluebirds, hummingbirds, and butterflies. In her younger years she loved to travel, go mushroom hunting, and raise vegetable gardens. In her later years she adored spending time with her beloved little dog, Sallie Ann.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Diane (Kevin) Lane of Kinmundy; son, Ed (Jan) Harper of Mahomet; daughter-in-law, Debbie Harper of Effingham; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husbands and son, David G. Harper.
