Alice M. Blake, 92 of Effingham, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Alice was born October 31, 1920 in Effingham, the daughter of Clem Sr. and Ethlyn (Bradley) Thoele. She graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1937. Alice then married Landis H. Blake, Sr. on July 5, 1940 in St. Charles, Missouri. She enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing and reading mysteries.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Robert) Blair of Edgewood; son, Randy (Audrey) of Effingham; sister, Margaret Cohee of California; sister-in-law, Rose Thoele of Florida; son-in-law, Merle Ragan; ten grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Grace; husband, Landis; son, Landis Jr.; daughter, Linda Ragan; brother, Clem Thoele Jr.; four sisters, Burnadine Newport, Ethlyn Cooper, Onita Causey and Genevieve File; one great-grandson, Reece Grupe.
