Alberta M. Westendorf, 90 of Dieterich, passed away at 3:23 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the church with a 4:30 p.m. C.C.W. rosary and a 5:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the Kluthe Civic Center in Dieterich.

Alberta was born July 24, 1924 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Francis and Johanna (Brumleve) Ruholl. She married Roger J. Westendorf on November 26, 1947 and he preceded her in death 49 years to the day, before Alberta. Alberta was a member of St. Isidore Parish and the St. Aloysius Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, as well as teaching games to her grandchildren. Alberta also loved birds, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Alberta is survived by her son, Carl (Cheryl) Westendorf of Dieterich; daughter, Janet Westendorf of Springfield; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Kloos of St. Louis, MO, Jill (friend, Ryan Koester) of Effingham and Kyle Westendorf of Dieterich; four great-grandchildren, Kieran, Clodagh, Ashlinn and Eamonn Kloos.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; grandson, Jamie; three brothers and three sisters.
