Alberta L. Apke's Obituary
Alberta Louise Apke, 89 of Effingham, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2013 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Green Creek with Fr. Sylvano Pera officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Alberta was born September 13, 1923 in Marshall, the daughter of Houston and Gertie (German) Hilt. She married Joseph Apke on June 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1967.
Alberta is survived by her three sons, Alfred (Betty) and Dale (Carol), both of Effingham, and Jim (Marilyn) of Decatur; two daughters, Dolores "Jean" (Jim) Slaughter of Hinsdale and Joyce (Fred) Buhler of Effingham; brothers, Paul (Linda) Hilt of Watson; sister-in-law, Annie Pruemer; sixteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren also survive.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Hilt; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice & Godfrey McClure and granddaughter, Anne Marie Apke.
