Albert M. Stumborg Jr., 92 of Effingham, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Albert was born April 20, 1923 in Effingham, the son of Albert Sr. and Bonnie (Gibbons) Stumborg. He married Vera Winegarner on December 12, 1953 in Salem and she preceded him in death in 2013. Albert had a love for trains which lead him to his career as a trackman for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham.
Albert is survived by his son, Joe (Christie) Stumborg of Shelbyville; three daughters, Mary Ann (Bruce) Hecht of Lovington, Virginia Stumborg of Effingham and Paula (Larry) Denison of Jonesboro, AR; brother, Max (Minnie Ruth) Stumborg of Wildwood, FL and sister, Dolores Wolf of Effingham; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Bertetto, Gary Cameron, James Denison and Andy Denison; several great-grandchildren also survive.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera; daughter, Nancy Cameron; sister, Maxine Cox; brothers-in-law, Richard Cox and Lester Wolf.
