Agnes M. Koester, 89, of Effingham, passed away at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lillyville with burial in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the church in Lillyville with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Agnes was born April 21, 1923 in Effingham County, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Unkraut) Ruholl. She married Raymond J. Koester on August 29, 1953 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Agnes was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lillyville and Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women.

Agnes is survived by one son, Melvin (Connie) of Effingham; two daughters, Linda (Robert) Barnick of Teutopolis and Diana (Brad) Foor of Neoga; eight grandchildren, Stacey (Chris) McNutt, Aaron Barnick, Jason Koester, Jodi Koester, Melissa Koester, Kimberly (Caleb) Dick, Crystal Foor and Kayla Foor; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cayden and Brody McNutt.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond and two sisters, Anna Lustig and Margaret Schumacher.
